Buashie N. Amatokwu, Ph.D
Born OnyekamBuashie Nkechinye Amatokwu to Dr. Fidelis Amatokwu and Florence Okonta-Odedina in Chicago Illinois. Dr. Amatokwu has been a human rights activist, educator, and lecturer for over ten years. She found the Black Student Voices at Southern ILL University (SIU) Carbondale in 1993. She was a member of the Judicial Review Board (1993-1995) and Vice president of African Student Association, SIUC (1992).
Buashie Amatokwu earned her B.S from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois and her Masters and Ph.D from Temple University.
Buashie is one of the most dynamic, provocative, and brutally honest voices of her generation, member and one of five Vice Presidents for the African Diaspora Foundation.
Dr. Amatokwu has lectured on diversity and multiculturalism, African, American and Black American history, American politics, American democracy, sexism from a female perspective, pop culture, social activism, and the history and state of hip hop at various colleges and universities, community centers, religious institutions, conferences, as well in corporate settings.
Her publications include Blue Magazine, Source and MTV online. Her in-depth work experiences with RedPed for AOL, GMR for Sony/Intel, and Sony HDTV promotions, and Truth amongst others place her on top of her field. A gifted and highly sought after public speaker and her extensive experience with not-for-profit arts & culture activities and an in comparable arts/culture/education organization all have been a great journey.
Furthermore, Dr. Amatokwu has offered her insights on a variety of social issues, as well as on hip hop and pop culture. She is a member of sacred service tam at Agape International Spiritual Center, Culver City California.
