Lisa Carroll graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1986 with a Bachelors degree of Science, majoring in Physical Therapy. She has worked for the County of Los Angeles as a Physical Therapist in public health in different capacities since 1990. She currently serves as the Clinical Manager of Physical Therapy Services at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Carroll is a Credentialed Trainer of the American Physical Therapy Association Clinical Educator and Instructor Program. She is certified to teach Kundalini Yoga and Dahn Hak Yoga. Ms. Carroll is a member of the International Association of Black Yoga Teachers. Ms. Carroll is currently the secretary of the Rainwater Foundation. The Rainwater Foundation is a volunteer health care organization that annually provides medical services to the minority tribes in China and Tibet.


Ms. Carroll’s interest in violence prevention began after traveling to Sierra Leone, West Africa in 1994 as a volunteer physical therapist. She continues to work in violence prevention by working with youth associated with gang violence as a physical therapist in public health. Ms. Carroll is a grassroots organizer and mentors youth in her neighborhood. In summer of 2008, Ms Carroll organized a trip for seven of these youth to travel from Pasadena, California to Ghana, West Africa. During this two week cultural exchange the African American youth were introduced to the art and science of Yoga and
their cultural heritage.


Ms. Carroll is committed to the education of youth and adults in the principles and practice of non violence creating peaceful individuals, homes, communities and nations.
